Newsbytes Weekender - The Malaysian Fantasy Theme Park Review

It has been a month since the grand opening of the Malaysia Fantasy Theme Park, graced by the honourable Village Chief Malek. After the initial snaking queues to the world-class multi-billion meso theme park during the first week, the hype has more or less died down now.

While many Maplers have commented that the decor of the new extension was excitingly refreshing, other reviews have been less positive. The park seemed to be plagued by a series of calamities, with the most recent being the short circuit of the Booper Aeroplane Ride, resulting in the crashing of two Booper Planes.

Five Maplers riding in the affected Booper Planes were sent on a free trip to the nearest town as a result and were later on sent to Kerning’s Niora Hospital to check for internal trauma. The casualties have since been discharged and declined an interview with Newsbytes.

Other Maplers have been giving immediate feedback about the rides, usually in the form of puddles of puke just outside the ride disembarking area. Additional feedback includes poor customer service by the service staff and insufficient safety measures undertaken in the theme park.

Fantasy Theme Park Sdn Bhd have since tried to remedy the kinks and hiccups and even engaged veteran fengshui master Yai Bua to give some pointers on how to beef up the positive energies flowing through the world-class attraction.

"You see ah. According to the five elements of metal, wood, water, fire and earth, the mobs of your park are lacking 'earth’ and 'fire’. Currently you've got the metallic Booper Scarlion planes for 'metal', the Jester Scarlions running on those dented barrels as your 'wood', the Vikerola for 'water', but you’re lacking the earth and fire.

This causes an imbalance in the yin and yang of the energies channelled by the northwesterly winds flowing through the park, hence bringing in the unclean ‘qi’ from the Muddy Banks. As a result you should plant more trees to around the park to balance out the ‘earth’ energy and perhaps consider incorporating some element of fire around the park.” The park had since heeded the fengshui master's advice and increased the amount of greenery in its premises and lit some torches outside the Dinorama Nightmares ride.

But have their efforts paid off? How does the Malaysia Fantasy Theme Park measure up now? Our resident Newsbytes reporter agrinomy, armed with anti-nausea pills takes a day trip to find out.

The final verdict? Our resident reporter feels that the Malaysian Fantasy Theme Park is more suited for 3rd jobbers and above. Maplers who are 2nd job and below should be accompanied by a qualified 3rd or 4th job buddy. It's a good place to visit for its novelty effect but not really for repeat visits. Be armed with potions, anti-nausea pills, burn creams and other forms of medication in case of unforseen injury. Take care, have fun!

Yes... this is a real life event...

It is that time of the year again as agrinomy gives out free ice-cream! Recall last year's giveaway where thousands queued up as agrin celebrated her 3rd job advancement. Originally, this year's givewaway was intended to tie in with agrin's 4th job advancement... but alas, she is still stuck at Level 105 now. Nonetheless, the ice-cream must still be given out!!!!

It has been some time...

Hello all regular supporters of my blog. I know that it has been some time since I last updated the blog. I've got numerous requests from various people to continue what I used to do. I am currently very busy fighting real mobs in real life and this takes up quite a lot of my energy. I promise I'll get back to writing once all these dies down.

Thank you for all the various comments left too. Speaking of comments, the blog has somehow become an outlet for readers to vent their unhappiness with the world, judging from this suicidal note I got from this student that is left in the Parfum de Keshigomu post. I do hope she is okay. I'm sure she's a she. Only the females feel this way. She writes rather well too. Nice four liners. If the last words of the 2nd and 4th lines rhyme she'll have some nice poetry going on there...

Anyway, thank you all. I'll be back. Let me give out some ice-cream first...

2007 Behind the Scenes Flashback

Wow it's been more than six months since this guild web thingy was started and look how it has grown. What started off as an information page for the 3rd job advancement quiz spun off to a few more pages of cute photo-album like screenshot collection of our guild members, and then news articles, advertisements, events and other stuff. It was a way for me to draw parallels with real life and maple life, injecting some real life situations into maple and vice versa, allowing me to escape into the other world when one proves to be too stressful. This post reveals some behind-the-scene thoughts as I did each post, and also acts as a roundup for the posts of 2007. Also a good summary for newer readers who never tried to scroll all the way back to the first post. However, for readers who like to look a pictures more than read, this post contains a lot of words, few pictures. Well too bad.

Photo Albums: CNY Pics Part 1
Oracle guild members are a photogenic lot, and the CNY 2007 pics were the first time we had ever gathered as a guild to take a group picture. The thing about taking group photos is trying to coordinate everyone to smile at the same time. The coordinator, which was Whister was on the verge of puking blood. It was also the first time I ever tried taking screenshots in maple, having discovered that my @#%^#@ Toshiba laptop had conveniently left out a key called Scroll Lock. After connecting an external keyboard to the laptop, I felt empowered and armed with a scroll lock key and became the guild paparazzi thereafter and the rest was history.

The guild is filled with a myriad of colourful characters with very interesting personalities. The one that stood out the most is JohnJon. Guild pervert, stalker, skirt-poker, and always scheming to release a summoning sack when Chip was afk. So it was a rare occasion that we found him afk in Parking Lot and kachecka, mm76 and I tried to murder him.

At that time, Reann was the first one in the guild to get hitched, much to the dismay of John. John appeared at the wedding intending to snatch the bride but was largely unsuccessful.

These two posts were made from a collection of random screenshots that I took, armed with my powerful scroll lock key and put together as a mosiac of blinking characters and clones. It's funny how you manage to catch so many blinking people when you least expect it, but when you intentionally want to take a screenshot of yourself blinking, you are never able to. Right Yuri?

This was the first of a series of candid snapshots, where secret screenshots of people were taken, coupled together with a funny caption and then displayed for the whole world to see. A certain guild member became very wary of agrin after this, not wanting to meet her in person for fear that she'd end up online in a compromising pose. Yes Rainie I'm referring to you!

Ads: Movie of the Month - Curse of the Nependeath Flower
The very first of the advertisement series, this ad was inspired by the recent popularity of the movie Curse of the Golden Flower featuring Chow Yun Fatt, Gong Li and Jay Chou. Skoo was game enough to go to Strolling Path and pose in a variety of sacrificial screenshots to get the perfect mud splat on his face. Ouch.

Newsbytes: Missing I/L Wizard Found After 5 Days!
This was also the first of a series of newspaper reporting style articles. Angelrainie, being Skoo's Maple kuai lui disappeared from the game for a few days, sparking off some worry and anxiety. In game, he spoke about making police reports and pasting posters all around town. Other guild members who were unable to see the humour in it thought that Skoo really lost his real life daughter when he lamented "Aiyah kids nowadays are like that, don't listen to parents anymore, blah blah blah... Police ask me go home and wait for news... blah blah blah". That was funny. Can't really remember who were they... mogcat and kacheka? This article was also the first of many where the good-for-nothing Chief Superintendent of Zipangu Police Station was featured.

Ads: MapD Plumbing Services
This ad features an unfortunate victim who was just holding a toilet plunger at the time of the screenshot. I guess he knew what was coming and tried saying one whole lot of things but the pro paparazzi still manages to get a final shot of him smiling.
Apparently Mapdragon got various whispers that night requesting him to come over immediately to repair an overflowing toilet and choked sink. (Good job Yuri!) But in all due respect, plumbers are cool right, look at that guy in Desperate Housewives...

Newsbytes: Thousands queue up as agrinomy gives out free ice-cream
Agrin informs guild members residing in Singapore that to celebrate her 3rd job advancement, she'll be giving out free Ben & Jerry ice-cream at all B&J scoop shops on 17th April 07 from 12 noon to 6pm. "You just had to queue up and inform the counter girl that you are agrin's friend and she'll give you a free cone," agrinomy tells the guild. John was very excited and plans to stuff his face with B&J the whole afternoon. Agrin is planning to hold a similar ice-cream giveaway this year to celebrate her 4th job advancement. Watch out for the notice!

Newsbytes: Second victim to fall prey to Umi
Most Newsbytes article are inspired by actual events in the game, or carry some amount of truth in it. This was one of them. While Veira tried to warn the guild after being scammed by that no-good Umi of 5 million mesos, Chiplao was mersmerised by the former Miss Zipangu and fell prey to Umi again. With this article, all guild members were subsequently warned of this vicious scamming incident and have proceeded to give her an F5 face everytime they pass her. It was also after this article that the name Meso-Laden was synonymous with Veira4.

Continuing from that article, hordes of Newsbytes readers sent in screenshots of themselves to show how much they hate Umi by posing with F5 faces at Umi. The best F5 ones were selected, and also included some gloating about the incident, and a shocker awaits as we see who is in cahoots with the former beauty queen...

Newsbytes: Hermit Spotted Skinny Dipping in Fishing Pond
It was during this time that the fishing pond was launched in Maplesea. Good way to re-emphasise the pervert-ness of a certain guild member. The culprit was described as having long black hair and owning a chubby blue penguin. Although no names were mentioned in this article regarding the identity of the skinny dipper, this article was placed on the same page as the next ad, and the culprit's two closest friends were interviewed. It was also through this article that I realised half the readers did not know what "skinny dipping" meant. For the record, it means to swim naked. =)

Newsbytes: Oracle Guild Master - Missing, Kidnapped, Dead or Alive?
This was the first of the Veira-Whister saga. Whister, the GM of Oracle has been missing from Maple for a period of time and all suspicion points towards junior master Veira4, who had ever expressed overthrowing Whister and taking his throne before. Could it be brutal revenge after finding out that Whister was in cahoots with Umi, scamming the meso-laden Veira of his 5 million mesos?

One day after the Newsbytes article was published about Whister's disappearance, the guild master appeared in maple running around Japan in his striped underwear and harrassing female guild members in Candid Snapshots - Whister Returns. Also features a topless picture of agrin and Veira4's sibeh haolian godly scrolled Codar.

Whister disappears again and the suspense continues. Rumour has it that his meso-printing machine is stored in his mansion's basement. Newsbytes: A Peep into Veira's Basement reveals that... and more...
Long after that, Whister still gets dubbed as the "ramen slave" because of this article. Hyak hyak hyak.

I was trying to spoof one of those charity shows where you have the emcee asking the audience to call in or sms to different numbers to donate different amounts of money. And then there's always some amount that goes to Singtel as service charge. Funny enough this "Save the Octopus" charity became Oracle's adopted charity for the rest of the year.

This was my first post after moving all old content from the old yahoo geocities website to blogspot. Lots of things to move, but the geocities was a bit too leh chey to update already due to it's primitive template. So on one day when I was on medical leave, I spent the day moving all the posts over. Shhhhh I told others that I was resting... But the new blogger site is easier to update and has a nice time stamp for all my posts. It also has the option for readers to leave comments.
Oh well, the guild expanded again!!! It's getting harder to do a write-up about everyone, so there were a few with just their pretty faces featured. It's funny when I ask three weeks in advance for guild members to do their own write up and hardly anyone responds. And when all is said and done and posted, I get one whole lot of requests to write certain things in their own writeup. Zzzzzz. Among all my posts, guild members page is the hardest to do. Shortens my HP/MP by 90%... Haha. Need time to recover after that.

Grand Return of Johnjon
Our resident guild pervert had disappeared from the Maple scene shortly after he was featured on the June cover of pervert magazine. I was informed that he was making a comeback and to show the guild's appreciation to him, I had taken the liberty to organise a welcome party back for him in the form of this notice. Very interestingly enough people really came to register with me, which leads me to post a disclaimer on everything they read on this blog. =)
On the night of 25th Sept, certain guild members really did prepare to welcome him at FM but were greeted by a four-legged unknown mob with a menancing snarl...

Newsbytes: In Loving Memory
This post was really written with a lot of sadness as one of our guild members we had grown to love left us forever. It's not one of those sent-back-to-nearest-town kind of deaths, or leaving-Oracle-to-join-friend's-guild kind of goodbyes, but more of a how-the-hell-did-that-ever-happen kind of tearful, heartbreaking farewell. Goodbye... Sob....
I actually had to do some preparation work when doing this post. I've never really read orbituaries before, or took note of what was written inside. But for this post, I was carefully scrutinising all the orbituaries in the Sunday newspapers to come up with the appropriate layout, wordings and of course, that black and white mugshot of our dearly deceased.

The Singapore maps were newly launched at this time, and sometime in the previous weekend the actual Singapore Duck Race took place at the Singapore River. For those who don't know, I absolutely love ducks and this was a chance for me to put two of the things I like together, ducks and maple. Hahaha. Follows up with a Newsbytes article "The Great Maple Duck Race". It was through this article that I realised that Malaysians don't use the word "kelong" the way it is used in Singapore... But various people gamely posed for me shouting "KELONG" and then later asking me what it meant... Haha.

Newsbytes: Angelrainie gets First Zakum Helm for Oracle!
Rainie has done the guild great honour for being the first to get helmed, hence getting some media coverage for her incredible feat. Interestingly enough people started to approach me to do a post for them when they achieved second job advancement. Second job... Zzzzz... So, if you want media coverage, here's the criteria. The story must fall into one of the following categories:
1. Juicy (eg. gangster wannabes collecting protection money in FM)
2. Scandalous (Haven't actually found one yet)
3. Never happened before (eg. first to get zakum helm)
4. Downright funny (eg. death in HHG)

So, no more coverage for anyone else getting helmed. But you'll get first hand coverage with a front page story if you actually NPC your Zak helm.

Ads: Rent-A-Horse
As more and more people starting to don the hilarious kentaurus four-legged suit, I felt that I just had to do a special feature for them. Drawing inspiration from Yuri, who always says "I want a horse ride" in guild chat, the idea for Rent-A-Horse.com was conceived.
And it so happened that the newspapers had a report about the horses in some Australian racetrack having equine influenza at that point of time, I had to assure maplers that the horses from Rent-A-Horse.com were disease free. =)

Interview: New Amoria Hair Salon Vandalised!
This one is hilarious. Yuri sends me a picture of herself and her new hairstyle. I nearly died laughing. Now this is what you call a juicy story. It was the first time I did it interview style and could reflect the guy's heavily French accented English and Mino's vulgar, grammatical incorrect sentences which you usually cannot portray in a normal Newsbytes article.

This interview was followed by an "Instant Ah-Ma-fication" fashion spread portraying Yuri's spanking new hairstyle and what clothes to go with it for which occasion, just like those Her World fashion spreads. I love the Banned Story simulator. I feel so empowered. *evil laugh*

This album showcases the new Amoria wedding map. Well I was supposed to attend a wedding which was postponed cos' the bride's mother asked her to go to bed. On the day where it actually took place, Sister Clarence wouldn't let me in. Very bad attitude. I shall go write a complaint letter...

Newsbytes: Consumer Advisory - Fake Zakum Helms
With the proliferation of people hankering after fake branded stuff when they can't afford the real thing in our world today, I felt that Zakum helms could be the parallel of LV bags in real life. C'mon, those LV bags are so boring looking, brown, monogrammed... yet you see a long queue of people outside the LV shop at Ngee Ann City every evening. And when they can't afford the real thing there's always the Grade A fake ones from Shenzhen or Bangkok... So here you go, fake zakum helms for you too. Major factor is just the glow or no glow. Haha. I was quite amused by the feedback I got for this post. Dang was so eager to get a fake Zak helm. "I'll carry extra AA batteries!"

This consumer advisory was followed by an Interview with Zakum. I see hordes of people flocking to PC Bunk every weekend to particpate in Zak runs trying to get the helm. Their mentalities were mainly "kill-zak, get helm", hence it was interesting to portray Zakum in a human way with feelings and showing his side of the story on how he sees all these maplers who flock to see him. I particularly enjoyed the part where I featured Pikachu. Anyway to gather enough knowledge to write this, and since I have zero experience in anything relating to Zakum (I haven't even done the quests), I plonked my butt at PC Bunk one Sunday sitting behind a hermit and watching him take Zakum down from beginning to end. Good research.

Ads: Afro Hair Storage!
I find this hairstyle absolutely hilarious and it reminded me a bit of Marge Simpson's hairstyle where she stores one whole lot of things in that blue beehive hair of hers. I didn't actually feature anybody I know personally in this ad, just that they happened to walk past and I snapped a screenshot of them. Some of them were from some really prominent guild like Deja Vu or Infinity or one of those. I erased their name and stuck some poop in their hair. I hope the owner of that character never finds this blog...

Then Veira decided to post a comment asking the guild if he should do an afro hairstyle change. Oh boy. Instant inspiration for the next post as he was featured as the poster boy for Eye Popping Hairstyles. Some hairstyles are really getting too common in maple so this fashion spread features some not-so-common hairstyles so that you can stand out of the crowd. And of course, why stop at only guy's hairstyles? I put Veira in some girly locks as well. (Ooooh love that simulator. So fun). And then why stop at only girly hair? I decided to stuff him in a nice pink dress and then get Whister out in a red dress as well. I laughed so much when doing the pics that my mum was wondering if I've gone coo-coo.

Blog Plagarism
This was the turning point for me and the guild blog. My blog was plagarised and I found my work reproduced word for word or directly linked to another blog. I was so horrified and upset that I couldn't sleep that night. I didn't scold the person involved, just asked her to remove the contents from her blog. However I got a lot of support from the guild (thank you guys!) as they unleashed their fury on the kid. This post had one of the record number of legitimate comments with thesis-long essay-like comments penned by various supporters who usually don't leave comments. It was also through this incident that I realised mapdragon had a brotherhood he could call upon should this matter get ugly. Damn cool.
I closed the blog for a week after that to sort out my thoughts on how to go on from here, whether to password protect it or not. I didn't like the idea of password protection as I intended this blog to be a free-for-all to enjoy, for guildmates and buddies and buddies' buddies and whoever who would appreciate it. I was also thinking that people may find it troublesome to log in to read and not come anymore. Once again I was really happy when kacheka said that she'll still read it even if there were 10 steps to log in. Heehee. Then I thought of this:
Step 1: Key in password to log in
Step 2: Solve a mathematical puzzle
Step 3: Solve a Sudoku puzzle (or is it Soduku, ah you know what I mean...)
Step 4: Spot the differences between two pictures
Step 5: Blah blah blah....

I mentioned this idea to her and she nearly fainted. Anyway, the guild blog was up again one week later (yes it was only one week, you guys kept saying that I closed it for so long...), no password, free for all. Just hope that something like this never happens again.

This story was inspired by Yuri and is one of my favourites. It was also one of Yuri's favourites and can also be found in her blog. After this post I always left a "O$P$" message when I visited any shops in which I knew the shop owners. Great fun.

Oracle Guild Gathering
It wasn't really my idea really. It was Veira's. I had intended to remain anonymous behind my computer screen for the rest of my maple life but oh well. Veira actually asked me to put up a simple notice to ask the guild which is the preferred date and place for the gathering, but nothing is simple with agrin. It was funny when people didn't respond at first as they thought this was an in-game gathering. I had to redo the post and put "YES THIS IS IN REAL LIFE".

The KL gathering went on as planned, and so did the SG one. The link for the pics for the KL gathering can be found in the comments of the above mentioned post, while those of the SG gathering can be found at at the SG Guild Gathering post. But we're kinda shy, so this is the best we've got. People feedback to say that the pic is very cute... Heehehee.

I personally spent quite a bit of brain power planning this post but I guess the content was a bit more attuned to slightly older people who go clubbing. The concept of beach party and foam party was also not familiar to many Malaysian readers. Adding on, the content was quite massive and worthy to be presented as a microsite instead of a blog post. Oh well. But this site features a naked picture of Whister. Haha.

Alibaba was an interesting new addition to Oracle and what struck me most was his clown like appearance. Well, you have to give credit to such interesting looking people, so here he goes. And then he got famous enough to be featured on the 4th job pre-paid card and even has his own fan club. I think he enjoys the attention...

New Quest: Raising the Coconut Tree
This is one of my favourites. Modelled after the "Raising the Christmas Tree" quest during the Christmas period, now we've got our very own Coco Doll and the Coconut Tree with SilkDevil as the NPC. I've got feedback though, that their Coco Doll does not work and the tree doesn't sprout at all from his bald head and no amount of whacking, tickling or pressing of the Coco Doll's tummy seems to work. Oh well, look for SilkDevil for refund. Heehee.

ORACLE member EcoAvadion was selected among thousands of hopefuls to be featured on the new 4th Job Advancement prepaid card series. The new series featured characters from all four jobs and were carefully selected from each of the four worlds. EcoAvadion was apparently talent spotted by an Asiasoft headhunter from his Rent-A-Clown advertisement. “We feel that EcoAvadion personifies the upper echelons of the magician society. And that clown suit looks like his second skin. We are unable to find another person that looks so good in the clown suit,” said a spokesperson from Asiasoft. EcoAvadion was elated when interviewed. “I am so happy to represent my job and Cassopeia! I can’t help it that I’m photogenic and handsome! Yay! The magician class rocks!”

There were a few dissidents about this decision to feature EcoAvadion as the poster boy for Arch Mage. “Firstly, he hasn't even gotten 4th job yet. Secondly, he’s not even an arch mage! This is a joke!!!!” wailed fellow Oracle member enchantor. “I should be featured instead! I think he bribed the committee,” he added bitterly. EcoAvadion is currently only at level 113 and is a priest. However, the inconsistency did not bother a troop of sweet young things who formed what they call an ‘AliBaba Fan Club’. “He’s absolutely cute!!!!” screamed a female level 60 assassin, who declined to be photographed or named. “Just look at his eyes! It’s so soulful and full of expression!” giggled a level 50 fire wizard friend. It was reported that the girls from the AliBaba Fan Club raided PC Bunk, wiped out all the
4th Job Arch Mage prepaid cards available and peeled off all the posters from the glass doors.

Thousands of fans also queued up outside FM Channel 20 Room 20 yesterday, where an autograph session cum press conference was held and was attended by all four characters featured in the series. However the girls from the AliBaba Fan Club were visibly disappointed when they saw EcoAvadion in person. “He somehow looks different from the picture in the card,” commented one fan. “Yeah,” agreed another. “He’s not so handsome, it must be all that make-up foundation he piled onto his face.”

Nonetheless EcoAvadion was unfazed. He declined to reveal how much he was paid for the photoshoot, but it was rumoured to be in the range of a sexy 9-figure sum. He is definitely giving Veira4 a run for his money, taking his spot as the next Meso-Laden!

SG Guild Gathering

The Oracle guild gatherings in the various cities went on rather well, at least for the KL and Singapore chapters. We have not heard any feedback regarding the ones that were supposed to take place in Sydney and Hong Kong though.

Anyway, for the Oracle KL Gathering, the Malaysians gathered at Time Square, had lunch and then chilled out at a Gasoline Cafe. I wonder what they ordered there. Petrol? For the SG side, we met at Chiplao's favourite Sakae Sushi at Dhoby Ghaut atrium and had dinner there. The guild has requested me to post up some pictures of the SG gathering. But then again, the SG players are a shy lot. Oh well, here is a picture of us standing outside Sakae Sushi...

Ok fine fine. Of course we didn't go there in our bubbles, dark galaxy, pyogo mushroom and red whip. Here's how we really look like...

It has come to my attention that one of our guild members lYandaol has a guild blog page for her own Aquila guild entitled "CouplesWorld Rox!". The page can be found at www.mapleguildcouplesworld.blogspot.com.

This site on its own does not seem to have it's own content but instead has every single one of my articles cut and paste from the Oracle Guild blog into that page. It also seems that everytime I publish a new post, the CouplesWorld site gets updated as well with direct links to my new post.

Permission was not sought from me and I found out about this site by accident. I have requested lYandaol to remove my work from her site by this Monday 19th November. If she does not do so, I will have no choice but to enable password protection for our Oracle Guild blog.

Plagarisation (which means taking other people's work and using it as your own) is a serious offence especially when you go to university and your professors can fail you for that subject and/or give you a black mark that affects job prospects in future. Do not plagarise.

I have created the Oracle Guild blog for the free enjoyment of all guild members and my buddies and I regret that something like that has to happen. What happens next for now will depend on whether my content is removed from the CouplesWorld Rox blog page.

The "Maple" Way of Saying Hello?

It has been brought to my attention that a certain four-legged guild member (the one with the long hair and the chubby blue penguin) has been going round to new guild members teaching them what is called the "Maple Way of Saying Hello".

New guild members have been going round Maple thinking that there is really such a thing and have been greeting others, both male and female with this "Maple Way of Saying Hello". This action is described as crouching down and poking at the feet of the victim with a weapon. For more pics, please click here.

Do take note that this is actually the "skirt poking" action used to peer up the skirts of females (well, sometimes perverts do peer up the robes of males as well) and is definitely not, as what the four legged creature described, as the "Maple Way of Saying Hello". Maplers say hello to each other like the way we do in real life, with.. erm, the word "Hello" and probably an F2.

The Great Maple Duck Race 2007!

Oracle guild member MarukoZlnc has been named the grand prize winner for the first ever Maple Duck Race held yesterday at Boat Quay, Singapore. She went home with the grand prize of 50 million mesos and a whole trail of people who were very eager to be her new friends. Agrinomy brings you the detailed report of the festivities at Boat Quay.

It was a sunny afternoon as hundreds of people gathered at Boat Quay, Singapore to participate in the first ever Maple Duck Race. Many Maplers adopted one or more rubber duckies to take part in the race down the Singapore River in the bid of winning the top prize of 50 million mesos. A total of 500,000 duckies were adopted, with all proceeds going to the Save the Octopus Fund.

By noon, the Boat Quay area was packed with Maplers at the carnival area, with a long line queuing up for the free horse rides. The horses from newly set up RentAHorse.com nearly fainted when they saw the long queue waiting for the rides. An unnamed girl was extremely intrigued by one of the horses, that she jumped on his back, started tugging his long black hair and shouted “Giddy-up! Giddy-up! MOVE IT HORSEY!!!!!!!” Eye-witnesses testified that the girl was equivalent to the size of a baby whale. The horse was in total shock that he keeled over and had to be revived with a bucket of cold water to the face. He is currently out-of-action and suffering from an aching back with various Tiger Balm Medicated plasters, Salon Pas and Yoko-yoko stuck to his hairy brown back.

The race started promptly at 2pm, with special guest-of-honour Chief Tatamo of Leafre flagging off the race. A big truckload of yellow rubber duckies was emptied into the Clarke Quay section of the Singapore River, slowly swimming their way to the Boat Quay finishing point. Eager Maplers lined the river banks in the hope of seeing their ducks. Halfway through, race judges spotted random tobi stars whizzing through the air and sinking various race ducks. Upon further investigation, they found that the stars originated from a level 78 hermit, coincidentally the same horsey with the Tiger Balm Medicated plasters, which was later identified as JohnJon. Angry Maplers who found out that John was sinking their duckies that they collectively lifted his hind legs and tipped him into the Singapore River. All ten of John’s adopted duckies were also promptly disqualified from the race.

Results of the race were announced this morning, with Oracle members MarukoZlnc and LovePrz4eveR bagging the first and third prize respectively. “I am so happy!!!!!!!” screamed Maru.”With this money, my dar and I can have our dream overseas Disneyland wedding in Japan! It'll be even better than Amoria!!!” Maru and her dar Kajika are currently awaiting the wedding expenses quotation from JMS.

LovePrz4eveR on the other hand, won the 3rd prize by pure coincidence. Apparently, the second place ducky belonged to JohnJon, but as all his ten duckies had been disqualified, all the winners moved up one place and LovePrz4eveR’s ducky moved from 4th place to 3rd place. “This is too good to be true,” said LovePrz4eveR, with tears glistening in his eyes. “ This ducky was adopted by my dad Thi3f1996 before he deleted himself. It must be by his special blessings that I won the 10 million mesos.”

JohnJon, on the other was kinda fuming mad and refused to be interviewed. He also refused to be photographed with all the medicated plasters stuck to his horsey back. Maplers from other guilds were also less than happy. “This contest is obviously rigged,” said duluken from Wise20s. How can Oracle members win so many of the top prizes? KELONG!!!!” “Ya! KELONG!!!” screamed xBabyRenz from Fantasy. Anyway, the 2007 Maple Duck Race was a success and a total of 5 billion mesos were raised for charity. All prize winners will be notified by a pop up message the next time to log into Maple.

A peep into Veira's basement

Newbytes has received secret CCTV footage as to what goes on in Veira's basement. Apparently the rumours circulating around maple with regard to Whister being Veira's slave are all true. The CCTV footage showed Whister stripped down to his underwear and chained to a big cooking pot filled with ingredients for mushroom miso ramen. From what we can see from the footage, the poor dude is made to cook thousands and thousands of mushroom miso ramen non-stop and is gleefully whipped by a sadistic bearded old man whenever he starts to slack. Two XXL sized bains are also kept at close range to poor Whister to make sure that he is either cutting mushrooms into precise 5mm-thick slices, slicing fishcakes, cutting vegetables or stirring the miso broth.

The Mushroom Miso Ramen, or MMR as it is often called, is now big business in Maplesea ever since the price increased from 4.5K per bowl to 12.5K now. With the price change, the distribution rights for this dish was also taken away from the poor elderly man at the wedding palace at Peach Blossum Island and transferred to Sly the Grocer at Leafre. It is believed that the ramen sold by Sly are all made right here in this very basement. Newsbytes is unable to ascertain the hygienic conditions of Veira's basement.

Police are also unable to verify the authenticity of this CCTV footage. A visit to Veira's residence also proved futile as his house is now heavily guarded by a pack of genetically modified bains that are resistant to all skills, including ice-attacks. Anyway, we hope that the video is real as this is the only news we've heard from Whister so far. Let's hope he's alive and well, and hope his body is not disposed of into the Kerning Sewers...

Angelrainie gets first Zakum helm for Oracle!

Angelrainie, a level 131 Ice/Lightning mage receives the honour of being the first person in Oracle to get helmed, ahead of guild master Whister. After 1 unsuccessful attempt due to disconnection, she survived the ardous Zakum challenge and received a spanking new Zakum helmet from Uncle Zakum himself. "It's kinda ugly", she comments. "The Zakum helm should be redesigned for a more modern, fashionable look."

Oracle's guild master Whister, could not be reached for comment with regard to Rainie getting helmed before him. Before his disappearance, he had declared the following on the Guild BBS:

Months later, he's still no where to be seen. Looks like he's no god, pro or lord anymore. Rumours has it that he is locked in Veira's basement, chained to a big cooking pot, cooking mushroom miso ramen everyday.

In Loving Memory

On the stormy night of 29th September, Oracle lost a guild member - Thi3f1996. Thief was at home, trying to delete his slave sweetyjon96 when he accidentally deleted himself instead. Not a trace of him was left, as every pixel was wiped out from Maplesea's memory.

Thief leaves behind a young level 26 magician son - LovePrz4eveR. Unlike in real life where you cannot take your wealth with you when you die, Thi3f1996 had successfully taken all his mesos, equip, pots and his newly cut cash shop hairstyle with him with his deletion, leaving absolutely nothing to his young helpless son.

The newly orphaned LovePrz4eveR is devastated at the loss of his father and all the family wealth that in his frustration and anger, he finished off the family slave the same way Thi3f1996 deleted himself.

LovePrz4eveR has currently replaced Thi3f1996 in Oracle and is learning the hard way of life with not having a main for support. "I took a taxi and now I have no money left!" he sobs.

Kind members of the public who'd like to make any form of donations in mesos, pots or hugs, please pm LovePrz4eveR. Condolences can be written in the comments page and will be conveyed to the young child.

Oracle will be observing one minute of silence on 6th October - the one week anniversary of Thi3f1996's tragedy. The memory of Thi3f1996 will forever remain in our hearts. Rest in peace...

Newsflash - Unknown Mob Spawns in El Nath

Following the sighting of the new unknown mob in Mushroom Shrine at the beginning of September, a similar species of this mob was sighted at El Nath last night. The creature, looking exactly like the one spotted at Mushroom Shrine, has four legs, a dog nose and half a skull head with two horns and was brandishing a menacing looking sword. It is suspected that the mob has spawned over the course of the month and there are a lot more of them popping up in Maple now.

“He looks exactly like the one I saw in Breaking News,” said xBabyGer. “It suddenly appeared out of the blue when we girls were preparing for the cheerleading event.” Apparently a group of Oracle girls were preparing for a grand comeback for their guild pervert JohnJon. “Umi’s cartons of rotten tomatoes just arrived and we were going fill our pockets with them and toss it at John when this creature appeared,” said kacheka. “However I think that he is much lower level than the one at Mushroom Shrine and we took care of it by giving it a good kick in his fat horsey ass,” added TrueSphere. The creature howled and promptly galloped away.

Members of the public are advised that these new mobs are not really harmful and just look more menacing that what they are really capable of. A good kick in the horse-butt is sufficient for self-defence when cornered by this creature.

Grand Return of JohnJon

Our guild pervert Johnjon as been missing from maple since Jun 2007. He’ll be making a grand comeback on Tuesday 25th September and has tasked me to prepare a grand welcome for him, which includes a luscious thick red carpet, a marching band, fireworks and an entourage of sexy cheerleaders wearing miniskirts, or no skirts. The cheerleaders should preferably line up the red carpet and be gently tossing scented rose petals at John.

Because John is a well-celebrated character in Oracle, I have agreed to make the arrangements for him. For the safety of our female guild members, please wear double pants. (He did mention no skirts, he didn’t say no pants). Male guild members who’d like to partake in this celebration can wear miniskirts if they prefer. Due to budget constraints, we are unable to afford scented rose petals, so we’ll make do with tomatoes, fresh, rotten or canned. A can-opener will not be necessary.

NewsFlash - Rescue the Octopus Fundraising

The Rescue the Octopus Fundraising Drive concluded last weekend. To the surprise of the charity organisers, only 50,000 mesos have been collected. Apparently somebody had vandalised the ad and changed the IGNs in which donors were supposed to PM to, to this IGN called "Aoyuri". A check with "Aoyuri" did not yield fruitful results. "I've been sabotaged," she said. "I didn't change it to my name," she claimed, shaking her head vigourously.

Coincidentally it was during this week that Aoyuri bought herself new bling bling, including a pair of rare red emerald earrings from Tiffany's. She also upgraded her pair 3 for 100 mesos bedroom slippers to an exquisite pair of Manolo Blahniks bunny slippers. Her actions mirrored that of Veira4's, who downgraded from his branded Emenegildo Zegna Oriental Fury Coat to cheap noob clothes when suspected of Oracle GM's Whister's murder. "These suspects", says Popo, Chief Superintendent of ZPG Police Station, "they all act in the same way. Any sudden change in clothing is a sign of guilt."

Police are unable to recover the lost donations at this point of time. Anyone with information, please contact Popo.

Thank you for your continouous support these past few months. The guild webpage has grown from one page to about 35 pages. With suggestions from various guild members to move the contents over to a blog site for easier navigation and leaving of comments, I've finally done it! On the day of my medical leave... -.-lll

The background remains white... cos' all my pictures are still with a white background. It makes the overall look cleaner and not so patchy.

The old geocities webpage remains where it is...

Yahoo! Guild page is finally updated! Oracle has come a long way since Version 0.40. The guild has expanded to a maximum of 50 members with many more interesting characters. While I (& Veira) try our best to write something about everyone, some members are not frequently logged on & hence we do not know much about you. But we still love you guys! Oh well, till the next update...
